ART CLASSES

Here I am in the east asia, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.  Weather was very hot and humid.  I am attending my art class, with Amir Ariffen near the National Art Gallery in Kuala Lumpur.  I found out about Amir’s art classes about 4 years ago and appreciate the great help and guidance he gives.  Painting in Asia is very different to painting in Europe. The paints react differently and also the colours one uses are much brighter. In the studio, we have some  fans and the A.C. very much needed.

In the classes everyone paints much larger canvases than here in Ireland and they also paint much more colourful paintings. It must be the sunshine and the many cultures which give the different hues and subjects and this makes for much more colourful creations. Most of my paintings in Kuala Lumpur stay there because the large size of some of them and are mostly commissions or gifts.  See my gallery for some of the works I completed here in Malaysia.

I visited Manila, Phillipines and Krabi, Thailand also this trip so watch out for beautiful holiday pictures from there online soon.

I had a very successful showing at the Portmarnock Art Group Annual Exhibition early April. Sold a painting, and as a new member this was quite unexpected.  A great turn out and the exhibition was opened by Entrepreneur Gavin Duffy who was very entertaining.

 TIP OF THE DAY

Always have mood music playing in the background when painting. It is amazing the difference it makes to help you concentrate. All the everyday noise fades away.
